Uploading your own background

Use something large and low in contrast. A background competes with your text for attention and it should lose. Around 1920 pixels wide is enough for any screen, and a quiet image at that size looks better than a busy one at twice it. Textures work. Photographs with faces in them almost never do. If your text becomes hard to read once the background is on, the image is the problem rather than the font.
