I've read through the beginner resources and I'm I'm more curious about the horror podcast/audio drama side of VA specifically, since it seems to have some differences from commercial/animation work. I'm interested in doing this as a hobby and eventually auditioning for horror anthology podcasts. I'm especially interes…

Hello everyone! About a year ago I signed with an acting agent, legit and listed on ACTRA. The contract stated I have representation for 1 year (starting August 2025), with no automatic renewal provision stated. I last heard from my agent in April of this year, after I sent in a self tape and inquired on whether he got…

I admire Florence Pugh so much and I was surprised to see she did one in EOE. Obviously her body her choice. Just wondering if this is a requirement to make it in Hollywood?

Hi! I’m asking out of curiosity, but how is it we see voice actors in prominent games and animation while also being in smaller non union jobs? I know in film you work non union to build up credits and experience but with voiceover it seems that’s not the case, as we see with a game like genshin (and other things) havi…

While watching some Portal fan videos (that came before generative AI was made public), I noticed that a lot of people are able to make actually great voice impressions. I guess you can say GLaDOS's autotune does some heavy lifting (although I think it's not enough to just talk at the microphone and do a good job), but…

Toppelgänger: an actor who occupies essentially the same casting lane as you, but is currently positioned above you and therefore tends to get the roles you’d otherwise be competing for. Have you ever heard of a better term?

Hi everyone, my name is Noah, an actor currently based in the NYC area. I’ve racked up a lot of Short Film credits over the past three years, taking a lot of classes around the New York City/Brooklyn area. I have a comedy reel + drama reel that I am proud of. Aside from getting things on Backstage, I’m not really sure…

AI Filmmaking Without the Hype: Concerns, Fixes, and Real SavingsVeteran filmmakers have fair concerns about generative AI: visual inconsistency, shaky platform economics, copyright gaps, and audience backlash. My answer isn't to reject the tools or let them run the show, but to use a hybrid workflow: human-authored, d…

AI is increasingly becoming part of film and television production. But the conversation often focuses on whether AI will replace creative professionals.I think there's another question worth exploring:Where can technology reduce the repetitive work around performance while leaving the actual creative performance in hum…

So I took an acting class just because idk opening myself up to new experiences. It's on camera and considering I've never acted before on or off camera. I was surprised to find that I enjoy it and truly want to pursue it farther. But I pretty much plan on doing it as a hobby since I like the industry I am currently in…

I'm looking to start a "book club" over zoom for an hour once a week where we can get together and read and discuss acting books such as Stanislavski's An Actor Prepares, Uta Hagen's Respect for Acting, or the GOAT Sanford Meisner on Acting. Is this something anyone would be interested in? I figure it may be a good way…

I (M24) have my first professional acting class on Monday. I’m going to take acting…

Hello! I am a fledgling voice actor but no newbie to the performing arts. I'm on a bit of an odyssey to add on VA-centric training/education to my CV that is currently heavier on live theatre and music. Curious to hear stories from actors who walked out of an audition or callback convinced they didn’t do their best, but ended up booking anyway. I've come on here and asked VA questions before, but I'd like to tell a story, and maybe give some encouragement. I do voice acting, but mainly I'm an audiodrama producer who produces original works.
