Hi all, I'm an actor from Turkey and I have a sense of "modernist" art. In order to be able to become an artist "literally", I strive for having theoretical background as well as for acting practises... but I am not really sure how to connect with like-minded European or American artists and where to find the latest ar…

Casting call websites just don't feel legitimate, do people still get agents? How low do you really have to start? I have minimal experience because I simply don't know where to get my foot in. Highschool didnt have a drama program, and nothing is really available in my town, such as an opera house or theatre. Any advi…

I was researching the other day on things that you had to do in order to become a professional screen actor. they all said the same things, have a resume, get an agent, join sag, etc. but one thing that stuck out to me is that a lot of articles varied on the subject of headshots. I later looked up pricing for headshots…

Hello and thanks for reading in advance. I always wanted to be an actor. As a child, while my parents would fight, I always pretended to be someone else, I would stand in front of a mirror and act for hours. I always knew that this is my destiny, nothing interests me but acting. But I live in Germany and acting isn't t…

I’m trying to make a profile on Backstage and I’m confused about what to put in the professional title box? I don’t sing or dance very well and that’s not needed for what I’ll be applying for anyway. Should I just put Actress?

Using Actors Access, Playbill and Backstage, I see a very small number of commercial auditions and a lot of them are asking for super specific people (twins, actual doctors, people who just bought a new car). I’ve also never been asked to audition for one even with a reel, headshot and legit training. Are actors with c…

Hello! Newbie here. I'm not a voice actor, but I figured that this sub might have good advice for my particular issue. Hi everyone! So i’ve been an actor since I was 5 years old with a huge peak in my career during my middle school days. So, I have lurked on the r/screenwriting subreddit and seem to get a lot of different advice on how I should be writing characters. I thought I might stop checking with the mechanics and check with the people that actually drive the damn car. If I were to write actor bait for you how would I best do that? Or, on the ot…

Hey! I have lurked in r/screenwriting for a while and sought advice on how to write great characters. But, then I thought I should check with the people that carry out the dialogue on the page. Simply put, how do I write actor bait? And... what are some things that immediately make it harder for you to do your job?
